The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), situated at Dholpur House, New Delhi, is set to conduct a preliminary screening test for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2024, aimed at recruiting Indian Forest Service Officers (Advertisement No. 06/2024-IFoS).

The UPSC will conduct the Screening Test for the Indian Forest Service Examination 2024 through the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, scheduled for May 26, 2024. Significant changes have been made to the pattern of the Indian Forest Service Examination 2024. Aspiring candidates for the IFS Examination 2024 are required to participate in the Indian Civil Service Examination (Preliminary) 2024. The Main Examination is anticipated to take place in November 2024.

UPSC IFS Examination 2024 details

Job Vacancies: Approximately 150 posts available (including 9 for PH category)

Age Requirement: Applicants should be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old as of August 1, 2024. The upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories as specified in the Notice.

Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with at least one of the subjects, namely Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the physical fitness requirements outlined in the notice.

Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts allowed for different categories are:

• (i) General Category – 6 attempts,
• (ii) OBC – 9 attempts, and
• (iii) SC/ST – No limit.

Examination Plan: The Indian Forest Service Examination will consist of two successive stages:

• (i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, and
• (ii) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the final selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service.

Candidates applying for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, except for Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempt from the fee, need to pay a fee of ₹100/-. This fee can be deposited in any branch of SBI by cash or through net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit card.
