SBI Probationary Officer (PO) Recruitment 2021 Vacancies

  • Probationary Officers (PO): 2056 vacancies (UR-810, OBC-560, EWS-200, SC-324, ST-162) (PWD-126), Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. SBI PO 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Any candidate applying for SBI PO 2021 must fulfill the eligibility criteria which includes fulfillment of the following as per the SBI PO Notification 2021:

Age Limit (As on 1st April 2021)

  • Minimum Age Limit21 Years
  • Maximum Age Limit30 Years

Candidates must have been born between 02.04.1991 and 01.04.2000 (both dates inclusive)

Besides this, there is age relaxation relevant to category-wise candidates as per the government norms for SBI PO 2021.

Nationality

  1. The candidates must hold Indian Citizenship
  2. A Subject of  Nepal or  Bhutan
  3. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  4. A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

Note: Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favour if willing to apply for SBI PO 2021.

Educational Qualification (as on 31st December 2021)

  1. A candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
  2. Final Year/Semester candidates can also apply only if they produce proof of their graduation on the date of the interview.

SBI PO 2021: Selection Process

The SBI PO Selection Procedure involves three phases: || Prelims | Main | Interview ||
Each round holds equal importance and hence qualification in each round is important to enter into the next subsequent round until final selection.

Stage 1: SBI PO Prelims

  1. The SBI PO Prelims Exam is the first basic round for the candidates to test their general aptitude.
  2. SBI PO Prelims Exam is an online objective test of 1 hour.
  3. The Exam consists of 3 sections- English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude.
  4. There will be no sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Prelims Exam.
  5. However, there will be an overall cut offset by the bank as per the category of the candidates.
  6. Candidates numbering 10 times the number of vacancies (approx.) in each category will be shortlisted for Main Examination from the top of the above merit list.

Stage 2: SBI PO Mains

  1. The candidates who clear the SBI PO Pre will be eligible to appear for the SBI PO Mains Exam.
  2. The SBI PO Mains Exam comprises of Objective Test and Descriptive Test.
  3. The SBI PO Mains Exam is of 4 sections (English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning & Computers, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness) which will be objective in nature.
  4. The descriptive test is of 50 marks and is conducted immediately after the objective test.
  5. Category wise merit list will be drawn based on the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination.
  6. There will be no sectional cut-off.
  7. Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approx.) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Interview from the top of the category wise merit list subject to a candidate scoring the minimum aggregate qualifying score.

Stage 3: SBI PO Group Exercises & Interview

This is the last stage of the selection process. The candidates who have qualified for the SBI Mains Exam will be called to appear for the Interview and Group Exercise. This round holds the utmost importance in deciding the fate of the candidate concerning the final selection.

The marks obtained in the SBI Mains and Interview are used for the final selection of the candidate as an SBI PO.

  1. The SBI PO Group Exercises will be of 20 marks while the Interview will be of 30 marks. Thus, making it a total of 50 Marks.
  2. Qualification/ qualifying marks in the group exercise and interview is decided by the Bank. Aggregate marks will decide the qualification after which they will be arranged in descending order in each category.
  3. Only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list.
  4. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately.

SBI PO 2021 Exam Pattern :-

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2021 will be covering two phases for online exams, Prelims & Mains. This will be followed by an interview.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern:

  1. This is the first round of the SBI PO Exam.
  2. This will have 3 sections where each section will have to be completed in 20 Minutes.
  3. The total marks of the SBI PO Prelims Exam are 100 Marks while the duration of the exam is 1 Hour.
  4. One (1) mark is awarded for every correct answer.
  5. There will be a penalty of 0.25 Marks for every incorrect answer marked by the candidate.
  6. All the questions will be set bilingually i.e. in English and Hindi, except the English Language.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern :

This is the 2nd Stage of the SBI PO Exam. The candidates who will qualify for the Prelims of the SBI PO Exam will be eligible to appear for the SBI PO Mains Exam 2021.

  1. There will be four sections for the SBI PO Mains Exam and an additional section of the English Language which will be taken separately on the same date of the exam.
  2. The SBI PO Mains Exam will have a total of 155 MCQ’s of a total duration of 3 Hours.
  3. There will be separate timing for each section as it was in the SBI PO Mains Exam.
  4. There will be a penalty of 0.25 Marks for an incorrect answer.

Introduction of Descriptive Test

The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The English Language Paper is to assess the candidates’ writing skills and it is compulsory to pass this paper by securing a minimum Cut Off by the commission.
